scratch.mit.edu is a website that teaches code to students. It is ideal for students in grade 5 to 8; especially if students have no experience with programming. Scratch is a sharing website as well. Students can share their video games which they coded themselves. It can also be used to integrate coding with any strand of math.
At scratch.mit.edu, students can input algorithms. To start, you can demonstrate a simple addition calculator so that students are familiar with the online program. Then, they’ll have to problem solve more independently in the future. Here is an instructional video by @eciardel to get things started . . .
